Let’s hope you love “American Idol” singer / songwriters, since this Friday edition of our show notes is really all about them. Not only do we have some more news about Colton Dixon’s tour single, but there are a pair of videos a little bit further down for your listening pleasure.
Check out the art – The photo to the left is what the season 11 star is using to promote the launch of “Never Gone” next week, which is of course the track that he performed while touring with Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, and the rest of the top ten all summer long.
While this is an arena rocker, though, it is not actually Colton’s first single; rather, that honor goes to “You Are,” which should arrive on radio stations throughout the fall. Nonetheless, it’s a reason to be excited, no?
Lee covers Radiohead – We’ve posted a good many videos recently of Lee DeWyze performing some of his original music; isn’t it time for a memorable cover?
The video below is of the season 9 champion taking on a classic Radiohead song in “Creep,” which he does a great job of making it his own. This feat is made more impressive by the fact that this is a horrendously hard song for anyone to sing, since the melodies are tricky and there is far more pain in the lyrics than anyone would first realize. Be warned, though: this is Radiohead, so the song contains some strong language.
Lee’s also going to be going on a mini-tour this fall, beginning with a show in Fairfield, Connecticut at StageOne October 27.
Casey Abrams’ “Simple Life” video – Finally, we’ll close things off with the official music video for the season 10 star’s new video. We really like the relaxing vibe of Casey’s music, and the best way to describe this video is that it is really just a good time. So why don’t you hop in the car with Casey (so long as you are okay with his massive beard) and enjoy the ride?
