With rumors that Jennifer Lopez could be pulling in a whopping grand total of $20 million just for doing this upcoming season of “American Idol,” it only makes sense that we would be hearing some new claims that not everyone else on the show is making less money for the same amount of work.
In a new story from the New York Post, a source claims that Steven Tyler in particular is feeling a bit left out now that he is seeing his colleague pull in such an enormous amount of money:
“J.Lo’s management is close to brokering her a huge deal to come back to the panel for at least one more season, and but the side effect is that it means her fellow judges also want more money.
“Steven is halfway through a two-year deal, and his management has asked for more money. They argue he was just as sensational and as popular on the panel as Jennifer. But, on the other side, show bosses argue he’s tied into a deal and has to stick to it. However, it’s hoped they can come to a compromise to keep Steven happy, because the producers love him.”
Now here’s the real question — are Steven and Jennifer really worthy of this kind of money? Lopez only offered up real criticism until the top seven, and Steven Tyler disappeared completely during the live shows and largely just told everyone they were “beautiful.” (However, he was sensational for most of the audition rounds.)
Do you think that Steven Tyler should be receiving anywhere near $20 million for a season of “Idol,” or do you think you have to do whatever you can to make the guy happy?
