If you thought that Cee Lo Green was a one-hit wonder as a solo act with “Forget You” (or its other name that many people choose to use), then you obviously haven’t heard “Cry Baby.” While his previous single “Bright Lights, Bigger City” didn’t have the sort of melody that is welcome for the radio, “Cry Baby” is a delightfully catchy number with a classy beat and Green’s signature old-school vibe. If you have never it before, you will probably end up listening to it five or ten times in a row — and now you have a music video to go along with it.
In continuing the tradition from “Forget You”, this video also has a distinct throwback look to it — and it also features an actor playing a version of Cee Lo. Former “Family Matters” star Jaleel White (Steve Urkel!) stars in the video as “The Voice” coach, and also features some pretty spectacular dance moves during the chorus.
In the midst of all the videos these days that either feature over-the-top symbolism or women running around in skimpy clothing, let’s hope that Cee Lo continues to make visual representations for his work that bring us back somewhere simpler — when watching a music video was meant to simply be fun.
