“The Big Bang Theory” has a pretty devoted sci-fi audience, and with that in mind, we have a feeling that the latest casting news is going to have “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fans popping in some of their old DVDs.
Sources have confirmed that Ken Lerner, who may be otherwise known for his role as the principal who literally found himself eaten alive by possessed students on a memorable episode of the Joss Whedon series, is going to be stopping by the CBS mega-hit for an appearance as Dr. Schneider, a bumbling dentist who we previously reported is going to become a love interest to Howard’s mother. His first episode is going to be airing in mid-October.
So does this casting mean that we are actually going to see Howard’s mother in person on the show? Far from it. Rather, Carol Ann Susi is going to hilariously remain in the background on the show, and Simon Helberg’s character (who may or may not be in space during this episode) is going to find out what is going on with his mother in a rather unusual way. There really are some great comedic possibilities here, especially since it will give us a new perspective as to who this character is … especially since everyone else just described Howard’s mother as gross throughout the vast majority of the series.
What do you think of this casting, and do you think that Mrs. Wolowitz getting a love interest is going to be good for Howard? Be sure to share some of your thoughts with a comment below!
