Thursday may be right smack in the middle of all things “X Factor,” but we can’t forget about the world of “American Idol” just yet … right? With that in mind, we are kicking off our notes Thursday with some more about Jessica Sanchez in the Philippines, and we also have some cool stories up featuring Phillip Phillips and Taylor Hicks staying put in Las Vegas.
Jessica in Manila – Jessica’s latest TV interview was a bit cut-and-dry in some ways, mostly because we did not really learn anything new outside of the fact that her extreme level of fame in the country has made it rather difficult for her to go out and catch many of the sights.
However, we did learn some sad news through this, which is that Phillip Phillips is feeling a little under the weather. We’re hardly surprised, though: the idols have been going 100 miles an hour, and it has to be even harder for someone when you consider that he was started this tour not long after surgery.
Airplay news – Rather than dwell on sad news, let’s turn instead to something worth actually smiling about: the performance of “Home” on the radio charts. Not only is Phillip’s coronation song still gaining spins, but it has hit a peak of #9 on the Hot AC chart. While it is still gaining on the Top 40 chart, as well, some songs gaining faster than it with the natural ebb and flow of the chart have caused it to drop to #32 from its past peak in the top 30.
Taylor Hicks stays at Bally’s – Finally, let’s close with the good news that Taylor Hicks is going to be staying at Bally’s in Las Vegas for at least a little while longer. In a statement per The Hollywood Reporter, David Hoenemeyer had the following to say about the performer extending his run through 2013:
“Taylor was enormously successful in his first headlining engagement here at Bally’s this summer … Locals as well as tourists from around the nation flock to see him perform on the Vegas Strip, and we look forward to continued success both here in Las Vegas and at some of our other properties.”
In addition to performing in Las Vegas, Hicks (who is the first “American Idol” star to headline a show) will also perform at Bally’s properties all over America.
