Even though we still have not seen the first film in “The Hunger Games” franchise get a release date, we already have some rather exciting news pertaining to a sequel.
According to studio Lionsgate, “Catching Fire” — which is the second book in the Suzanne Collins trilogy — has been scheduled for release on November 22, 2013 . This marks the perfect time for it to take over and become a smash hit during the holiday season, and its receipts will likely even carry over until the first month of 2014.
There is, however, one major question still worth asking with this franchise — why schedule the first film for late March? While we generally do see one or two major hits during the month, it is an unusual time to release a film that many are hoping will carry over some of the success from the “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” franchises when they finally wind down.
Do you think this film series is going to be a major success?
