The season premiere of “Game of Thrones” is still several months away; so with that in mind, we are at least getting an opportunity to look back now at some pretty cool elements of the season 2 production.
The video below comes courtesy of TheCGBros, and it shows off some of the amazing visual effects work by Pixomondo for the series. The way in which that you can tell that this is such a pristine job is that you ever question the existence of visual effects when watching the show; everything just looks natural and real. This is especially impressive once you remember that this series does not have the same sort of substantial budget as many big-budget motion pictures, where the lead actor receives more money than this show does for at least half of the season.
As for next season, we assume that the effects team are going to once again have their hands full. There are landscapes to be touched up, crowds to render, and of course some moments that just need that much more realism placed into them. The cast and crew have been spending the past few months in Northern Ireland, but they will be taking off soon to such other countries as Morocco (site of Dany’s upcoming storyline), Croatia (the site of King’s Landing), and Iceland (the realm of the Night’s Watch and Jon Snow). This show won a plethora of Emmys for some of its production over the weekend, and it is easy to understand why after looking at some things like this.
