It looks like Carly Rae Jepsen is looking to have a “Good Time” on the season finale of “So You Think You Can Dance” Tuesday night … even if this is not the song she is scheduled to perform.
In a post on her Twitter account Tuesday, the famed “Canadian Idol” alum behind the hit of 2012 in “Call Me Maybe” announced that she was going to be on the dance competition in order to promote the release of her debut album “Kiss.” As for her performance, it will be her new 80s-inspired track “This Kiss” rather than anything involving a phone.
In many ways, Carly’s performance on this show is a pretty big deal this summer, namely because “So You Think You Can Dance” has shifted their formula so that most of the performances are dance-oriented within the two-hour format of the show. Back when the series had a live results show, musical guests were much more common, and the show actually had a bit of a reputation for landing stars just before their careers skyrocketed into superstardom. They were, after all, one of the first shows to use the song “Jar of Hearts,” and Lady Gaga played one of her first network television gigs on this show.
In addition to Carly’s performance Tuesday, we are going to see all sorts of highlights from throughout the season as the four finalists (Cyrus Spencer, Eiliana Girard, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, and Tiffany Maher) all try their hardest to entertain us. They no longer have the pressure of knowing that America is about to vote for their favorites, and with that in mind they may be a little bit more keen to have a great time.
