While it is hard to question the natural feeling that it was to pair “Grey’s Anatomy” up with “Private Practice” on Thursday nights, ABC is doing something a little bit different for the fall season: for the first time in over half a decade, the two medical dramas are not going to share the same night together in September. “Private Practice” has moved to Tuesdays (where it fared rather well in the spring after “Dancing with the Stars”), and another Shonda Rhimes series has taken hold of its old timeslot: “Scandal.”
In the new video below, you can see how the network is trying to promote this night of quality programming by talking a little bit about the high drama that is going to be present on both shows. When it comes to the doctors of Seattle Grace, we are finally going to learn just who ended up surviving the plane crash that has already taken Lexie’s life. (We wish that they would actually show some new footage, though, rather than the same clip of Cristina stating what is at this point pretty obvious: that they were on a plane, and it crashed.) Meanwhile, “Scandal” is going to take things up a notch in season 2 by having Olivia Pope stuck in the middle of what may be her most scandalous situation yet. Unfortunately for her, it is one that just so happens to involve herself.
These new shows will debut on Thursday, September 27 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and of course stay tuned, as we will have plenty more coverage before that time.
