There’s something about the “Community” fandom that is rather special, ad this is taken up even yet another notch when you have people working on the show who are as equally passionate about the product as the fans.
With that in mind, we turn to a video that is currently spreading like wildfire: the first episode of the “Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Ca Also Travel Through Time.” Sounds like a mouthful, no? Well, the show basically is an unofficial take on “Inspector Spacetime,” the “Doctor Who” parody created on the show to give Danny Pudi’s Abed something to obsess over, and it stars the Inspector himself in Travis Richey.
Just in case you are wondering the reason for the subtle changes between this show and the “Community” creation, it’s largely because Richey could not get permission from Sony Pictures TV to use the official character. Even with that being said, though, the spirit of the show Abed loves so very much is still present here. The first episode may not be very long, but it packs a nice little punch and makes us excited about what is coming up next; plus, it’s funny. This is really all we can ask for of a web series, and this feels like something professional rather than just a fan-made “Inspector Spacetime” tribute.
As for when you can see this show make their next official appearance on “Community” it will be during a upcoming episode revolving all around an “Inspector Spacetime” convention attended by Abed and the rest of the Greendale 7. Tricia Helfer is going to guest star as a woman with a major interest in science fiction, and she is probably going to have fannboys clinging all over her.
What do you think about the creation of a series that is basically an unofficial take on what is in its own way a send-up of everything “Doctor Who” stands for? If you want to check out the latest rumors regarding Donald Glover’s future on the show, be sure to head over to the link here.
