‘Glee’ music preview: Hear Lea Michele’s ‘Oops, I Did It Again’

In one of the recent preview videos that we published over the weekend for Thursday night’s new episode of “Glee,” it was highlighted that one Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) was already getting discriminated against in the NYADA classroom by her dance teacher Cassandra July (Kate Hudson), and for one reason and one reason only: whether or not she was “sexy” enough to actually pull of the tango and some other dances that they were being taught.

With that in mind, we turn now to what is meant to be Rachel’s response to this: her cover of the Britney Spears classic “Oops, I Did It Again.” It’s a fun performance for sure, and as the audio (via Ryan Seacrest) shows below, it is also a departure for a character that tends to be a little bit more straight-laced. The arrangement here actually sounds a little bit as though it has a certain element of “I’m a Slave 4 U” to it, as it takes away some of the heavy pop notes and replaces them with something more slinky and sultry.

So is Rachel going to be singing this to any one person in particular? At the moment, Brody (Dean Geyer) could be a target. He and Rachel do have some natural chemistry together, and at the moment we really don’t kow just where Finn is or what he is up to.

What do you think about Michele’s cover of this song, and do you think that it compares particularly well with the original? We want to hear some more of your thoughts with a comment below!┬áIf you want to hear Darren Criss speak out about who could be the new leader of New Directions, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
