‘Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars’: Gilles Marini balks at ‘frontrunner’ label

Is Gilles Marini really the favorite to win the upcoming “All-Stars” season of “Dancing with the Stars“? Considering that he did not even actually win the first time he was on the show during season 8, we are not so quick to hand him this label just yet.

However, that does not mean that other people are shying away from doing this very thing. When asked about possibly being the favorite in a recent interview with “Access Hollywood,” the star of ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth” more or less laughed off the idea by saying that he is not paying attention to what anyone else is saying:

“They say, ‘The frontrunner!’ — something which just makes me laugh. It makes me laugh because [Peta Murgatroyd] clearly sees every day it takes me like six hours to do one-eighth [of a routine] … But, I understand the concept of [the press’] game plan [to hype us up], but it won’t work … We’re just gonna keep working.”

You can certainly not accuse Marini of being too confident when it comes to his abilities, as he calls himself “hurt” and also jokes about how much older he is now than when he famous stripped down for scenes in the infamous “Sex and the City” movie (which is really how he ended up landing a post on this show to begin with back in season 8). We do believe that he does have a pretty great shot of at least going far, if for no other reason than Peta is the reigning champ, and has shown that she is more than capable of helping out already-popular performers.
