Now that Goldie is actually pregnant with David ad Bryan’s future child, the fun on “The New Normal” is going to finally begin. With that in mind, we are hopefully going to see a little less time spent on establishing what the premise of the show is and a little more time on the actual comedy.
Sadly, the new promo for Tuesday night’s new episode released by NBC does not really give away too much when it comes to plot, although it does show just about everything you would expect: David and Bryan are going to be in a constant state of panic over being parents, Nana is still not going to approve, ad Goldie is going to figure out what it is like in going from a ex who really didn’t care about anything to two future fathers who are attentive over every detail.
While we were somewhat tepid over the series’ future after watching the first episode, executive producers Ryan Murphy did something that we love to see happen in episode 2: they proved us wrong. The final 15 minutes steered away from some of the regurgitating familiar facts that we saw in the pilot, and ended up becoming one of the most gripping pieces of comedy we have seen thus far during this short fall TV season. Ultimately, we just hope to see Murphy and Adler keep it up as the series progresses, and the good news is that the possibilities for laughs are pretty endless now the nerve-wrecking part of this experience is over in Goldie getting pregnant.
