Just last week, we published an article claiming that “The Big Bang Theory” would be getting a new addition that could potentially jeopardize a relationship that we have come to know and love on the series. However, we at first thought that this person was going to be after Sheldon for the sole reason that she is working as his assistant at the university (a role at one time occupied by Raj in a hilarious storyline).
We have learned since that this character (named Alex) could actually create some trouble for Leonard and Penny, and we also know now who is going to be playing her. While at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday night, executive producer Bill Prady confirmed (via TVLine and a Facebook fan group) that Margo Harshman of the short-lived NBC comedy “Bent” is actually going to be the actress to land this coveted role. We don’t know yet just how many episodes that Harshman will appear in, or if Alex will actually lead to another Leonard / Penny breakup; however, it does always do some good to wake up this relationship a little bit yet again. At the end of this past season, Kaley Cuoco’s character more or less proved yet again that she was not ready to settle down after freaking out to a proposal that Leonard did not really mean to give. We saw her get a little jealous in the past courtesy of Raj’s sister Priya, and the presence of another female suitor here could be a way for her to wake up and smell the coffee (or in Sheldon’s case, any hot beverage will do): Leonard could end up with someone else if she doesn’t make more of a move, and both parties stop being so afraid to dive in with both feet.
What do you think of this casting, and do you think that this could really lead to another breakup? We want to hear more of your thoughts below! To view more news on the show’s upcoming Halloween special, be sure to head over to the link here.
