Christina Aguilera is back, and we have a first listen of her new single “Your Body” just a matter of days before she is set to debut the song in grand fashion on “The Voice.”
So how is the song? It certainly feels a little less pop that some of her songs of the late nineties and early 2000s, but it does have a driving beat that will probably will make it into a club sensation. Do we wish the lyrics were a little bit more original? Sure, mostly because every single word of this song is something that we have heard thematically in another place over the course of the past several years. There’s still no denying, though, that Aguilera has one of the most powerful voices of her generation, and the great thing about this song is that it is radio-friendly while at the same time not sacrificing some of the vocals that we have come to appreciate from her brand of music.
“Your Body” is the lead single off of Aguilera’s upcoming album, and we will be seeing a new video for it soon along with some other performances across multiple TV platforms. Unlike the upcoming “American Idol” judge in Mariah Carey, Christina seems to be doing a pretty smart thing here in waiting to release the song until just days after her return to TV. (Carey released “Triumphant” earlier this year, and without the hit Fox reality show it really didn’t go anywhere.)
