Just in case you needed some sort of reminder that Dr. Sheldon Cooper is a man with a big heart even in spite of his quirks, we have a brand-new official synopsis for the second episode of “The Big Bang Theory” this season that should warm your heart in a pretty serious way.
This installment is going to be entitled “The Decoupling Fluctuation,” and the primary focus of the story is going to be about a topic that everyone should know too well at this point in Leonard and Penny possibly breaking up. What is a bit of a surprise is who goes out of the way to try and save the relationship:
“When Sheldon learns that Penny is thinking about breaking up with Leonard, he tries to intervene. Meanwhile, in space, the other astronauts pick on Howard.”
The first half of this synopsis sounds completely amazing, mostly because you know that this situation is going to lead to all sorts of hilarious comments from Sheldon that are actually attempts to “compliment” Leonard and explain why he is a good boyfriend. (Let’s just hope that he avoids the use of the word “coitus” for a change.) Meanwhile, the latter portion of this episode sounds a bit tired and overdone. We already know that the astronauts like to pick on Howard, since we saw it done a few times last season as it was there way of hazing him into the program. While we agree with anyone who says that Simon Helberg’s character does deserve a little bit of comeuppance every now and then for some of his quirks, it should not be a situation where he is beaten down all of the time.
Can you already picture in your head some of Sheldon’s ideal arguments to Penny to keep Leonard around? We want to hear some of your best lines below! If you want to watch the first promo for the new season, you can do so over at the link here.
