Before we get to the season 4 premiere of “Glee” airing on Thursday night, why not take one last look concerning what is going to be coming up for some of our favorite couples on the show?
If you look at the people who were together at the end of last season, the only one that really even seems to be remotely stable at the moment is that of Will and Emma (and even they are going to have trouble). Finn & Rachel will be in separate cities, Santana & Brittany and Kurt & Blaine will be in different stages of their lives, and we already know that it is curtains for Mike Chang and Tina as well as any hope Sam had at giving back with Mercedes.
So why all of the change over the course of the summer months? Speaking within a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Brad Falchuk teased that one of reasons behind all the moves is really rather simple: sometimes, it’s best to change things up and force people to go trough some tough times:
”We’re going to challenge every relationship … Even with the most solid ones there’s always a new challenge. Because that’s real. That’s what happens. You graduate high school and one person stays and one person goes—none of those should ever last. Sometimes they break up and they get back together, but we’re gonna really push them all.”
With this statement in mind, fans of some of these long-standing couples really should not worry too much about them being over for good just yet. Even if something happens to Kurt and Blaine, for example, that causes them to drift apart, who is to say that it will stay that way forever.
