‘American Idol’ notes: Colton Dixon, Jessica Sanchez, Adam Lambert

While just about everyone at the moment is busy talking about a number of other singing competitions in “The X Factor” and “The Voice,” let’s go back to the granddaddy of them all in “American Idol” for a minute, shall we? We’re going to kick things off with some new music from Colton Dixon, and end with Adam Lambert taking in the sights at New York Fashion Week.

Colton’s new song – We have our first listen at the season 11 star’s first radio single in “You Are,” and in many ways it sounds just as you would expect from something looking to make a big impact on Christian radio.

You can hear the song (albeit with so-so quality) in the video below, and the good news here is that Colton’s diehard fans should lap this up. It’s got a nice melody, is sung pretty well, and it also is just secular enough that it does not necessarily have to be interpreted as being a song for God even if it is intended to be that way.

Jessica Sanchez ready for the Philippines – The American portion for the season 11 tour is now complete, but there is one more booking coming up that is extremely worth noting: the concert in Manila happening on September 21. This is the second straight year that the show has opted to venture to the Pacific country, which is where so many of its artists (think David Archuleta) are extremely popular.

Jessica is half-Filipino, and with that in mind it should not be surprising that she is even more excited about this (per her Twitter) than most everyone else:

“That’s a wrap for our US Tour! To my Philippines fans: Can’t wait to see you in Manila Sept 21! #AILiveinManila

New hair from Adam Lambert – While this is not nearly as drastic as his shift from having black hair to platinum blonde, the season 8 star has opted to change up his hairstyle again. In a new photo from New York Fashion Week (which you can see here), Adam is sporting a strictly silver look as he smiles alongside Paris Hilton. It’s fun … and also a little futuristic.

If you want some near-confirmation that Keith Urban is in fact joining the show’s panel for this upcoming season, all you have to do is visit the story at this link.
