Remember when “Jersey Shore” star Deena Cortese was arrested earlier this summer for public intoxication? Well, the restaurant that was serving her the drinks is now also facing some of the consequences.
According to some new reports, the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control has decided to fine the Mexican food establishment Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grille in Seaside Heights $15,000 for over-serving Deena with drinks after she was visibly intoxicated, which in part led to her arrest a little later. At the time the reality star was put into handcuffs by local authorities, she was see wandering the streets, fighting with onlookers, and also hitting cars with the side of her hand. As for why she was “visibly intoxicated,” sources say that she tried to both stand on the bar as well as the table while a customer was trying to eat their food.
The penalty that is being handed to the restaurant here is actually far more severe that what Deena faced herself for the incident. All she really had to do as a part of the arrest is apologize and pay a tiny fine that is pretty much the equivalent of what she makes for less than a minute of “Jersey Shore” footage that ends up making it to air on MTV. (She is also banned from the restaurant for two years.) All of these stars have been made into millionaires thanks to the network, and their salaries balloon even more once you include the profits from their own merchandise as well as promotional appearances at nightclubs and on television shows.
Do you think Deena should have had to pay out just as much as the restaurant, or do you think they are actually the most liable for giving Deena the booze to begin with? If you do want to check out the latest teaser for the show (which returns on Thursday, October 11), all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
