According to a new report from TMZ, the “Basketball Wives” star’s ex, who she is planning to divorce as soon as humanly possible following the incident last month, has been charged with misdemeanor assault in Broward County, Florida. If he is convicted, Johnson could face as long as a year in prison.
This news comes as hardly a shock given the evidence that has been placed against Johnson, though it is unlikely that he would serve the maximum sentence behind bars. What this does mean, however, is that his odds of finding a new NFL home are greatly diminished. The Miami Dolphins released him not long after the initial arrest, and he has been unable to find a new team yet who would be willing to take a chance on his talent despite his struggles off the field.
As to how this arrest still impacts Evelyn, the reverberations are huge. Not only is she having to split from a man that she once loved and cared about very deeply, but she also lost out on promoting herself via the new “Ev & Ocho” wedding series that was pulled from VH1 before it even aired thanks to the incident. Now, she has to wait until “Basketball Wives” returns on VH1 next year to explain more of her side of the story, and how she is coping with everything that has happened to her since she was last telling her story on-camera.
