We are now officially one month away from the return of “The Vampire Diaries” to TV, and we now know one more thing from one of the show’s biggest stars in Nina Dobrev: even though there may be more vampires and special effects than ever, this will still be a story at the end of the day that is all about the characters.
Speaking to E! News in a new interview at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her new movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” Dobrev calls the season “intense” before going on to talk about how all of her emotions are now out of whack thanks to the transition:
“Elena is a vampire now, so everything is heightened … If she steps on an ant and kills the ant, she freaks out and starts crying, or if somebody tells a joke, she starts laughing like a maniac. So all of her emotions are heightened.”
As an actor, it’s almost sure that Dobrev is lapping this up since it will give her so many new opportunities to play a variety of different emotions on a grand scale. However, there is one huge challenge that is going to surely turn up at some point: now that Elena is a vampire, what separates her from Katherine? Dobrev is going to have to find a new way to differentiate one character from another, even though we are not sure yet if or win the long-standing villain is going to resurface in Mystic Falls. (Last we saw her, she made it clear that she had no intention of sticking around so long as Klaus was present.)
Do you think seeing many more emotions from Elena is going to be fun, or just a little bit crazy? We want to hear more of your thoughts below! Also, be sure to check out the new score of promo photos that were just unveiled showing off the cast.
