‘Saturday Night Live’: Frank Ocean to be joined by John Mayer

Every “Saturday Night Live” premiere is important in that they set the tone for the rest of the season, but we have a feeling that this year’s version is going to be more important than most. The NBC series has just hired three new performers to compensate for the exit of Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliot, and with that sort of turnover comes fears that the same level of comedy won’t be brought to the table.

So how do you make up for these concerns? By packing in big names. We already know that “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is going to be hosting the big episode, and now we can also add to the list that the musical guest for the hour in Frank Ocean is going to be joined by John Mayer for at least one song. Ocean confirmed the news in a post on his Twitter account, and it should give the performances that much more mystique. As for what song that they will perform, the answer at the moment seems fairly obvious: it will involve “White,” which is the song that they collaborated on as a part of his debut album “Channel Orange.” Considering that this is hardly long enough for a full performance, we have a feeling that they are going to be adding something else to the mix to go along with it. (Who doesn’t love a surprise every now and then?)

What are you more exciting about when it comes to the show’s premiere this weekend: Ocean’s performance, or MacFarlane’s duties as host? We want to hear some more of your thoughts with a comment below!
