At this point, it’s already pretty clear that Nick Peterson is one of the most polarizing guys in America. On Monday night’s finale episode of “Bachelor Pad 3,” the personal trainer made the incredibly gutsy (and in many ways silly) move to take all of the money for himself, and because his partner Rachel Truehart decided to share the winnings, she ended up with pretty much nothing to her name.
So what does the show’s host have to say about all this? In his brand-new entry inside his Entertainment Weekly blog, Chris Harrison did his best to remind everyone that while what Nick did was indeed incredibly selfish, it was done as a part of a game that allows for these sort of events to happen:
“Bachelor Pad is a game. From the moment you arrive at Bachelor Pad the fact that you are playing for a quarter of a million dollars is always on your mind. Nobody, especially nobody in Rachel’s alliance, gave a da– about Nick. Not only did they not care about him, but they didn’t think he had a chance to make it to the finals. Nick was expendable and he was being used. Rachel, Michael, Jaclyn and Ed were only keeping Nick around until it was time to put him out of his misery and vote him off the show. As soon as he wasn’t useful anymore he was going to go… at least, that was the plan. Even while he was sitting on the stage, nobody in Rachel’s alliance felt he deserved the money or even to be up there.”
Really, the only part of Nick’s victory that was irksome from this perspective was the way in which he cackled and celebrated his own victory after the move was made, mostly because there was not any need to rub it in anyone’s face or act like you were telling everyone your secret plan while tying them to the train tracks.
Now that you’ve had a night to think about it, are you just as upset at Nick as you were? To check out some more news from Michael Stagliano concerning the finale, be sure to read the story here.
