Two weeks before the premiere of the “All-Stars” version of “Dancing with the Stars,” we have some rather sad news breaking when it comes to one of the show’s longtime judges in Carrie Ann Inaba: she and her fiance Jesse Sloan quietly ended their romantic relationship earlier this summer.
In a statement (per Gossip Cop), a rep for the former Fly Girl had the following to say on this very subject:
“They decided early in the summer to break off their engagement and have remained friends.”
This news is especially sad if you remember that Sloan popped the question in a pretty high-profile manner back when Inaba was guest-hosting an episode of what was then called “Live! with Regis and Kelly.” The moment made headlines around the country, and in the months that followed Carrie Ann was asked questions about it at pretty much every turn.
As sad as this new is, the upside here is that Inaba is going to have an opportunity in two weeks to get back to doing what she does best: helping to score ballroom and Latin routines featuring celebrities in ridiculous costumes. One of the great things about the “Dancing with the Stars” franchise is its consistency; Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli were not big names when they were chosen, but now it’s hard to imagine the show without them. Really, this is where so many other shows are getting it wrong when it comes to getting mercenary judges who are big names with big paychecks; not only are they likely to end up leaving the show after a short amount of time, but you also cannot guarantee that they will have good chemistry with anyone else.
