Have we really seen the end of one of the most notorious characters to ever be on “Breaking Bad“? Even though Gus Fring may be dead, the Emmy-nominated actor responsible for playing him is at least leaving the possibility open of him coming back for at least one episode of the show’s final season airing next summer.
Speaking to E! News in a new interview, Giancarlo Esposito sounded open to maybe turning up again as Gus at some point; and while it sounds as though he is joking with his comment at the very end of this statement, it still does make you think:
“[There] has been certainly ideas floating around … I want to come back in Walt’s [Bryan Cranston] dream and haunt him.”
So in what sort of way could Fring return? The only real possibility could be in a flashback, mostly because the idea of Walt suddenly dreaming about a man that he is responsible for killing just seems like a little bit of a stretch. While it is nice for Esposito to say what he did, we really think that at the end of the day, it is really better off if Gus does not return. His death scene was one of the coolest and craziest moments in the history of cable TV, and it still to this day remains the perfect send-off. You don’t want to fail at ruining something that was already so spectacular to begin with … even if it is just bringing him back for a dream cameo or a flashback. In case you couldn’t tell, we’re big believers of stories reaching their natural end.
