‘The New Normal’: Georgia King talks about the pilot

If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch “The New Normal” online just yet, the show is airing following “The Voice” in a sneak preview, and hopefully this will give the Ryan Murphy series some more viewers who watch it on a regular basis beginning on Tuesday night.

So what does one of the series’ stars have to say about making this pilot? Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide,  Georgia King (who plays the surrogate parent Goldie) explained the sort of joy that she got filming a show that was about a topic in GLBT relationships at a time when they are on the forefront:

“I came over for a pilot season amongst hundreds of British people that do. I read the script and was really excited about how edgy and relevant and how important the subject matter is … I’m buzzing off the fact that I’m in a program that I am so proud of.”

As for what it really was about this show that made her a little bit nervous, it was the prospect of getting to work with someone as legendary in the industry as Ellen Barkin, who plays her take-no-prisoners mother:

“I grew up watching her films, so to not only be a part of Ryan Murphy’s project, but to get to work with Ellen Barkin is quite surreal … You just try to play it as cool as possible.”

Are you excited to watch this show all season long, and do you think it will be the sort of thing that inspires a good many people out there? If you want to read our full review of the show, all you have to do is visit the link here. The second episode of the show will air Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.
