The newest cast member of “Saturday Night Live” has been announced, and it turns out Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson are not the only alumni of Chicago and the Second City improv troupe to land a place on Lorne Michael’s popular NBC institution.
In a statement Monday night, the network confirmed that Bryant and Robinson are going to be making their debut this fall. Meanwhile, they are also going to be joined by Cecily Strong, who has an extensive history performing throughout the Chicago area. These three are all extremely seasoned vets in te comedy world, and are more than capable of keeping the show strong after the departures of Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliott. Jason Sudeikis’ own future on the show is in question, and it is possible that he is just sticking around to wrap up the 2012 Presidential election season with his take on Mitt Romney. (If Romney wins, we have a feeling that “SNL” is going to have to find a new person for the part.)
The season premiere of the show this weekend is going to feature the likes of “Family Guy” star Seth MacFarlane as the host, and Frank Ocean as the musical guest. We don’t know how much of the newcomers we will see, but it would be a shock if they were not featured at least in one or two sketches to get audiences acclimated to this right out of the gate.
What do you think about the new cast members this time around, and do you think they will be able to keep the momentum that they had with Wiig and Samberg? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! If you want to find out some more about Bryant and Robinson’s booking on the show, you can do so by heading over to the link here.
