For most of he past two months, “Game of Thrones” has been hard at work shooting its third season in Northern Ireland. This is a country that is going to serve as a setting for a number of the show’s key storylines moving forward, as many of the soundstages used by the show are here.
However, Morocco is going to be joining Croatia and Iceland as valuable locations this year thanks to Daenerys Targeryan continuing her travels beyond the great (but also completely messed up) city of Qarth. With that, we have some more news on the filming location! According to a casting call obtained by show site Winter is Coming, producers are looking for people of all varieties to serve as extras for some scenes that are going to be shot in the coastal city of Essaouira. For these particular scenes, filming is going to take place from October 13-17, and it would certainly not be stunning news at all if some other nearby locations in the country were used for other key scenes in the story.
We already know that Dany’s storyline moving forward is going to be a substantial one, and some of the major characters that have been cast are some mercenaries and soldiers that she will meet during her travels. Despite her new location, though, the mission is still going to be the same for Emilia Clarke’s character: try to make it back to King’s Landing with an army to take back the Iron Throne.
