“Glee” fans, get ready to be sad — we can now confirm that Naya Rivera will be joining Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, and Chris Colfer as people getting set to graduate as soon as this coming season is done.
At the premiere of the “Glee Live! 3D” concert film this weekend, Rivera confirmed (per E!) that her snarky character Santana — who managed to win over a good many people with a heart-wrenching story about her love for Brittany — is going to be moving on by the time May rolls around:
“I’m a senior. I guess that means I’m graduating. That’s what happens when you’re a senior! I don’t think it’s a thing. It’s like, what is it when you’re in high school? You’re a senior, you graduate. Yes, I’m graduating this year.”
Rather than be particularly upset by the news, Rivera instead claimed that she is happy about her future (which we already know includes a record contract):
“It will always be bittersweet because this is like our baby and we’ve been with it since the beginning and it’s always sad. It’s literally like the feeling of being in high school. It’s bittersweet, but it happens. That’s what you do. I’ve had a great run and hopefully it continues.”
Don’t be surprised if the shockers continue moving forward, as we can probably expect season three to be the last season for a few more of the original cast members (such as possibly Mercedes, Artie, and Tina).
What character do you want to stay on “Glee” the most after this season?
