So what is Randy Jackson’s future on “American Idol” going to be? Unfortunately, it looks as though we are still going to be waiting a little while longer to find out. On Monday, the show’s longest-tenured judge, and one person other than Ryan Seacrest to be on camera every season since the beginning, did a brief publicity tour to talk about everything that is going on in his life. Unfortunately, that did not include much talk about his future on Idol.
Basically, Randy said the same thing to both Kathie Lee and Hoda on “The Today Show” and the ladies of “The View” Monday morning: We would have to wait and see and shakes down with the show. It’s possible that the reported four-person group of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias could end up being announced later this week, and the “Dawg” could be shifted over to a mentoring position to tell everyone about how “pitchy” they are during some of these performances before they even start. The guy has not exactly been a top-level judge since Simon Cowell left, so it would not be a shock to see him move out of the judging seat and into another area of the show.
However, it is possible that Randy or another person associated with the show in Adam Lambert could be part of the show in some capacity, as the deals with the rumored judges are not confirmed at the moment outside of Carey. At the moment, though, these two are considered to be long shots and will only happen in the event that Enrique says no to the gig.
Do you think Randy handled this the right way, or do you find his ability to dodge questions to be rather comical? (We’re answering “a little bit of both.” If you want to see some more news about the success of season 11 champ Phillip Phillip’s new song “Home,” you can do so by visiting the story here.
