We have video of our first full performance of “Glee” season 4 to share today, and what is particularly surprising about it is that it features someone that we have not even had the opportunity to meet as of yet: Kate Hudson’s character of Cassandra July.
Basically, the entire performance seems to be set up in a way so that NYADA’s resident dance superstar can intimidate Rachel (Lea Michele) and some of the other students into believing that she is not only in charge, but better than all of them. Of course, there is still some major irony here in that she was obviously not good enough to have a career on Broadway, and is since trying to teach other aspiring performers what she knows.
As for this mash-up of “Dance Again” by Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga’s “Americano,” it is pretty inspired, with the only twist here being that Hudson’s accent during the Spanish sections is a little off. With that being said, the choreography is pretty stellar from the moment she first tears off her skirt to when some of the muscular men in the room start to spin her around in the air. This had to be a pretty intense shoot for the actress to film, especially with it being her introduction of sorts to the world of the show along with the world of executive producer Ryan Murphy. Hudson will be appearing in at least a handful of the early spring episodes, and we have a feeling that this will not be the only musical number that she ends up having.
What do you think about Hudson’s performance, and in your mind how is the best way for Rachel to handle both Cassandra’s ego as well as her intimidation techniques? We want to hear from you below!
