Sometimes, there is casting news so great that you are not entirely sure how you never thought of this before. With this in mind we now introduce the latest bit of “New Girl” casting.
According to a new report from TVLine, former “Daily Show” correspondent Rob Riggle has been cast to play the part of Schmidt’s super-competitive cousin who is sure to be almost as crazy and over-the-top as he is. The kicker? His character also goes by Schmidt. If there is anyone who is the master of going over the top, it’s Riggle; and with that in mind, we are more than a little bit excited as to what is going to be coming up next.
There is no word just yet as to when Riggle will make his first appearance on the show, but our simple hope is that he and some of the other members of the guest cast will continue to make “New Girl” one of the shining stars of the TV season. It’s going to face far more competition when it comes to comedies this year; not only is the new series on NBC in “Go On” airing in the same timeslot, but so is ABC’s “Happy Endings” for the first time. The good news for “New Girl” is that it will be on for almost a month following its September 25 premiere before the later series returns to ABC; meanwhile, “Go On” is actually returning with new episodes on Tuesday following a new installment of “The Voice.”
What do you think about Riggle’s casting, and are there any other family members you do want to see on the show this season? If you want to see who is going to appear on the show as Jess’ love interest, be sure to head on over to the link here.
