‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Chord Overstreet’s Britney Spears surprise

Considering how suggestive some of her songs really are, it’s pretty surprising in some ways that “Glee” is even taking on the songbook of Britney Spears for the second time for their upcoming September 19 episode. What may be even more surprising than this, though, is hearing just what incredibly-suggestive song Chord Overstreet says is coming up.

Speaking to Billboard at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night, the face behind Sam Evans confirmed that the hit “3” off of her greatest hits album was going to be getting some special treatment during the episode; not only that, but it would be performed in a completely different style than what we have heard from the original recording:

“We’re doing ‘3.’ It’s gonna be fun. It’s all acoustic, kind of redone. It’ll be fresh. There’s a lot of really funny stuff in that episode. Lots of good dance numbers.”

Overstreet doesn’t say that his character is involved with this performance, but the subject matter of this song (namely: threesomes) is going to lead to some very interesting questions as to why it is being performed and who is taking on the vocals. We do know that Sam is going to have a welcome addition to his love life this season, even though we do not know just yet who that is going to be or if it will make the fans as excited as his romance with Mercedes did during the end of season 2 and following his return during season 3.

Some of the other songs featured during this episode include the Spears hit “Boys” (which will be mashed up with Justin Bieber’s “Boyfried”), Heather Morris singing “Gimme More,” and presumably Lea Michele’s Rachel taking on “Oops, I Did It Again.” (You can hear some of the songs at this link.)

Do you think that “3” is going to be a great performance, and are you as curious as we are to find out who sings it? If you want to watch a new sneak peek from the premiere, be sure to visit the link here.
