The cast of characters for the second season of “Scandal” is expanding, and this only seems to make sense given that we are looking at a far longer season coming up when compared to the short collection of episodes we saw this past spring.
So who is joining the Shonda Rhimes creation now? According to a brand-new report from TVLine, former “Everwood” star Debra Mooney is going to play a extremely important role for a few episodes. How important? Let’s just say that she is going to take on the part of a Justice of the Supreme Court.
Mooney has appeared on a number of other popular TV series over the years, but what may be the most notable here is that she already has plenty of experience with Rhimes. Previously, she took on the role of Owen’s mother on the series that really launched the executive producer’s career in “Grey’s Anatomy.” That series is currently entering its ninth season, but thanks to a number of positive reviews “Scandal” is quickly becoming the critical darling of the family.
Rooney is also not the only actor from the world of “Grey’s Anatomy” who will be stopping by “Scandal” this season, as it has already been confirmed that Steven Bailey, who you may otherwise know as Joe the bartender (as opposed to famed political figure Joe the Plumber), is going to receive some sort of guest-starring role of his own. This is a trend that we only expect to increase in the weeks ahead, and if “Private Practice” ends after this season and “Scandal” continues, then there are almost certain to be even more Rhimes alumni paying a visit to Washington DC.
