For this Friday afternoon edition of “American Idol” notes, we have some big news concerning albums, but we’ll start with some of the first real comments from Nicki Minaj about being a judge on the show this coming season.
Speaking in an interview with “Access Hollywood” while on the red carpet for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night, the “Starships” rapper, who is set to earn somewhere between $8 and $12 million for appearing on the show, proclaimed that this was not a gig she was really even seeking out:
“I’ve never imagined myself as a judge because I tend to think everyone’s amazing – like even the crazy contestants, I always love them because, you know, they’re memorable … So, I don’t know.”
While it’s cool that Minaj decided to answer the question at all, we don’t really buy her excuse here about wanting to be too nice. She is a master of being coy about what is coming up on her slate, so we have a feeling she won’t give a straight answer on this subject until the official announcement comes in … whenever that may be.
All about the season 11 stars – We have a good bit of silly information to share, as well, when it comes to most of the season 11 top ten courtesy of a couple of things: a new video posted by 19 Entertainment (which you can see below), and some more recent comments made by Phillip Phillip and Jessica Sanchez in a chat with fans on Friday afternoon. Most of the answers that they gave were pure filler, but both of them reiterated their likely album release dates (early 2013 for Phillip, late this year for Jessica) while also explaining how they want to be touring and playing music for years to come.
As for the video, let’s just say that although Jessica and Phillip are a part of it, Heejun Han and Hollie Cavanagh really take the cake in this gem from 19 Entertainment.
