“Modern Family” has had a history of producing some pretty great holiday-oriented episodes, and we could have an opportunity to see yet another one this coming October courtesy of an event that anyone who loves costumes and candy waits for every year: Halloween.
So what’s going to happen on the show this year for the holiday? Speaking to TV Guide in a recent interview, executive producer Steve Levitan suggests that when it comes to this year’s big scare, Phil could actually end up being the target rather than the one making the big move:
“When Phil accuses Claire of not being scary on Halloween, she turns all her attention to giving him the scare of his life.”
Yes, the comedic possibilities here are pretty endless, and we have a feeling that Cam, Mitchell, or at least someone else in the Dunphy – Pritchett clan is going to play a part in trying to make this happen.
Now that “Modern Family” is going to be nearing the 100-episode mark by the end of this season, we are at a time when it becomes a little bit more challenging for the writers behind the scenes. How do you keep the comedy fresh when there are so many things that have already been done? Take for instance the concept of Halloween; the show has already done the holiday well in the past, so the challenge for this episode is going to be not necessarily topping the last one, but finding a way to make it not only as funny, but also different enough that it will be remembered on its own.
