‘American Idol’ notes: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Colton Dixon

Considering that we talk about all things “American Idol” pretty much at least once a day here on the site, it would be insane for us to not acknowledge one of the most important anniversaries in the history of the show: Kelly Clarkson performing “A Moment Like This” for the first time.

While at a show in Missouri yesterday, Kelly celebrated the ten-year anniversary of this day (which capped off the show’s first season) by performing the song to a crowded audience. This came during a part of the show that Kelly usually reserves for covers of other people’s songs, but this was in many ways equally a tribute to the show that made her a star. “A Moment Like This” is a little bit of a sappy tune, and it’s not one that Kelly performs very much anymore; however, she still finds a way to pull it off and make it seem believable. Congratulations to Kelly, and to “American Idol” to actually still being relevant ten years after the fact.

Adam’s new contest – We told you yesterday that Adam Lambert is making “Trespassing” his latest single, and he is now giving everyone an opportunity to be a part of the celebration. What do you have to do in order to take part? We’ll let a Twitter post from the guy himself say it all:

“A contest for all you fans! Send me videos of u performing ‘Trespassing’. Lip-synch, sing, dance and dress up! Prizes to be announced.”

We can’t wait to see the end results of this one.

Colton Dixon’s album release date – Only days after we said that Colton Dixon’s first single would be called “You Are,” we now know the song’s official release date: October 19. Meanwhile, his debut album is going to be joining season 11 champ Phillip Phillips in coming out next year. Specifically, Colton’s disc will be out in February.

In a statement, here is what the Christian rocker had to say about the album’s upcoming release:

“Two of the most important things in my life have always been my faith and my music. I am now blessed with the chance to combine both of these passions in working with 19 recordings/EMI CMG. With their support, I know I will be able to make an album that I am proud of and showcases who I am as an artist.”
