‘Game of Thrones’ theme song rocked by ‘America’s Got Talent’ alum

Remember Lindsey Stirling? Some of you may know the violinist best for her work covering a number of geek anthems including music from “The Legend of Zelda” or “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” but others may have a light go off in their head courtesy of the 2010 edition of “America’s Got Talent” back when Piers Morgan was on the show. We luckily fall into both camps, and thus we present Stirling’s sensational new creation with Peter Hollens set to the “Game of Thrones” theme song.

It really should not come as too great of a surprise that the music here is rather sensational, but what we also have to give some great credit to here is the sweeping cinematography. Stirling actually does impersonate a violin-playing Daenerys Targeryan rather well, while we’re not sure if Hollens is supposed to be Jamie Lannister or Littlefinger. (He’s definitely not Eddard Stark.) No matter what, this is a strong and faithful adaptation of the theme, and it is yet another reason to be excited about a premiere that is not going to be coming up until March 31, 2013. (It’s a rather large time away, isn’t it?)

Considering that Stirling’s Zelda video alone has over 5 million hits on YouTube, we wonder just how silly Morgan must feel now for buzzing her during her live performance on “America’s Got Talent” (even if she was performing more hip-hop music at that time). She really is one of the few contestants from this show who has actually maintained and expanded on her fame since being on the show, so hats off to her.
