After seeing things go south with Dan and Blair at the end of season 5 of “Gossip Girl,” we knew that this was not going to be a relationship that is not exactly doing well at the start of the new season. But just how much is what happened going to impact him? Let’s just say that he is going to be a different sort of Dan this year than we have seen in the past.
Speaking in a brand-new interview TVLine, executive producer Sara Goodman had the following to say about the progression of this character, and how this dark version of the character, one who has spent some time this summer with Georgina, is still going to feel in many ways like the Dan we have come to know and love all along:
“I like the dark, so I’m actually really excited about Dan this season. What might seem dark under Georgina is really just Dan finally claiming [his] power. He’s been dismissed by [the gang] for a long time and he’s realizing his power might lie in a different place. It’ll be a more hell-bent and darker Dan than we have necessarily seen, but I think it’s very in keeping with his character.”
So what is Dan’s endgame really going to be at the end of the day? We’re not sure, but we’ve always said that it is going to be hard for every single character on the Upper East Side to have a happy ending. After all, how often does that really happen in life?
