In a post on their official Twitter account Wednesday night, CBS confirmed that the former “Monster” and “Black Snake Moan” star was going to be appearing on at least one episode of the Emmy-winning drama series “The Good Wife” as a controversial comedienne who turns to Lockhart / Gardner after finding herself in a bind. This is a role that was likely inspired by a pair of things:
1. Some popular female comics at the moment including Lisa Lampanelli, Sarah Silverman, and Amy Schumer.
2. The fact that the nature of jokes as a whole is something that has been talked about quite a bit in the past year or so. Schumer specifically made headlines after being the recipient of death threats over a joke she made about the late Ryan Dunn while at the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. Gilbert Gottfried was fired from his job at Aflac over some comments that he made about a tsunami hitting Japan, and Jeff Ross also landed in some trouble for joking about the recent Aurora shooting at the Roseanne Roast last month. (However, there were no lawsuits involved in here as far as we know.)
Before her role on “Pan Am,” Ricci was known most for her roles in film, but this show in particular has quite a knack at securing some of the biggest guest stars out there. This season alone, we are going to see the likes of Nathan Lane, Michael J. Fox, Maura Tierney, and many more.
