Do you want to hear Kate Hudson’s first song on “Glee” this coming season? If so, we have some rather exciting news for you: it’s coming up today! If you check back to this page at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, you will get the chance to hear via Ustream the first listen of Hudson’s singing voice as NYADA dance teacher Cassandra July. If you are coming to this page after the stream ends, don’t fret; we will have audio of the song then as soon as it is available. (Update: you can check out even more new songs by visiting this link.)
There’s no telling for sure just what the song is going to be, but we do have our suspicions that it will be the much-discussed mash-up of “Dance Again” by Jennifer Lopez and a Lady Gaga hit (probably “Just Dance”). This is a performance that is done as Cassandra challenges her students to bring the most out of themselves and challenge her, which is something that none of them seem to be altogether willing to do just yet. (As a matter of fact, Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry seems utterly terrified of her.)
Hudson is currently set to appear in a number of early episodes this season, and could recur throughout the fall season as Rachel looks to finish up the course. We also know that Whoopi Goldberg is set to return in some capacity as NYADA grande dame Carmen, though her role is going to be pretty limited due to her commitments to “The View” and other projects.
Expect Rachel this season to take refuge from Cassandra in another student named Brody (Dean Geyer), who could end up becoming a love interest depending on what happens to Finn this season. Cory Monteith has a unique story of his own this time, and who knows where it is going to lead.
Update: The song that Hudson performed was “Americano” from Lady Gaga, and it suited the song even better than “Just Dance” would have. Stay tuned, as we’ll have full reviews coming.
Update 2: Check out the song before.
