We already know that “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” has become a bit of a surprise ratings sensation for TLC since its premiere earlier in the summer, and with that there is one question that is definitely worth asking of the show’s central family: just how big of a share of the profits do they have?
If you base Alana Shannon and her family’s earnings solely on a story from The Hollywood Reporter, then the answer here is “surprisingly little.” This story claims that the family is only making somewhere in the range of $2,000-4,000 an episode, with some extra location fees thrown in for the family’s home. Considering that there are ten episodes in a season, this would put the total earnings at some place close to $40,000.
But is this really the amount of money that the family pulls in? Not if you ask the family matriarch June Shannon. Speaking to TMZ, she claims that the family earns a decent amount more than the numbers specified in the THR article, though she declines to say how much. However, what we can say with some certainty here is that TLC is still breaking bank when it comes to this series for the time being. Even though its audience is not at “Jersey Shore” levels, Snooki and company were getting over $100,000 an episode for their final two seasons on the air; to put this in perspective yet again, reports are that Kate Gosselin was receiving $500,000 for seasons of “Kate Plus 8” before TLC canceled her series. Of course, the caveat here is that although “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” has higher ratings than Kate did at the end of her run, at one point “Jon and Kate Plus 8” was drawing massive viewership that including more than 10 million viewers on the episode that Jon and Kate’s divorce was first announced to the world.
Regardless what the figures are, we have a feeling that Honey Boo Boo’s life is never going to be quite the same again. If you want to see what celebrities are checking out this show, be sure to read the story over at this link.
