Unlike some reality show judges that wait months and months before ultimately figuring out whether or not they want to return to their respective shows for another season, Howard Stern looks to be doing “America’s Got Talent” a favor and making up his mind soon.
So will the self-proclaimed “America’s Judge” be back for more? As of this writing, Howard is not saying definitely, but based on his comments to The Hollywood Reporter it still looks to be in the realm of possibility that we could see more of him:
“I’m making a decision now. I want to see what my schedule is going to be like … We’re trying to figure it out, to see what’s happening. But I tell you, it’s a lot of fun doing the show, and I’m inclined to do it again. I want to really figure out what these next three weeks are going to be like; it’s a little rough with my radio schedule … The show is great. I mean, you’re finding talent; we have amazing talent this year. I think these next couple of weeks are going to be just fabulous. There’s so many talented people on the show this year. I think this is their best season, and not because of me, but because of the talent.”
Overall, Howard has done a great job replacing a man in Piers Morgan who was arguably the greatest judge that the show had before this season, and even though the ratings have not been out of the park by any means, he has at least been effective in getting more publicity to the show than was there previously. “America’s Got Talent” was really hurt this season by starting too soon thanks to the Olympics and against the “Dancing with the Stars” finale, and then airing regularly against a number of other shows in “The Bachelorette” and “Hell’s Kitchen” that took away some of its viewership early on.
We are wondering if there is a way that producers could find a way to move the tapings for the live show out of Newark (where they are at present) and to a location in New York City proper where Howard could get to without so long a commute. This may just be a small factor, but he would likely appreciate the couple extra hours in his schedule.
