“American Horror Story” has not given up their aggressive promotional push for the new “Asylum” season, and the latest teaser may very well take the cake as one of the strangest yet. Why? The scare here really seems to come more out of left field than anything that we have seen thus far.
In the video below, you can check out the clip, which begins with the now-infamous “white nun” sitting down in an all-white room similar to what we saw during the recent “blue coat” teaser; then, a nun dressed in black is quick to follow this up. Is this supposed to represent the battle of good versus evil? We’re not sure, but almost out of nowhere following the appearance of the second nun, we have a shot of a person seemingly locked in some sort of straitjacket seemingly losing their mind. The clip is appropriate given the setting for season 2, but we do not necessarily understand what the producers are trying to say here.
Rather than trying to go into an even deeper debate as to the meaning behind this clip, we are instead going to turn our attention to something that is far easier to figure out: the new poster for the show. This features a number of the show’s primary characters in some shape or form, though at the center of it all yet again is Jessica Lange as the ruthless nun who is running this institution. She is going to give many of these patients a reason to be afraid, though we do not know yet if she will be doing so by employing any of the methods that we have seen in the teasers so far. (This image also has shots of Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, and James Cromwell, who are all prominent additions to the season 2 cast.)
FX confirmed yet again on Tuesday that we can enter this asylum beginning on Wednesday, October 17, and the show will air from then until the end of the fall. What do you think about this new teaser, and of the poster image? We want to hear your thoughts!
