Fans of “The Bachelor,” take a deep breath: it’s almost time for the decision. It’s been a particularly drawn-out process this year of trying to find the new leading man, but in a post on Twitter Monday executive producer Mike Fleiss made it clear that he is done with giving teaser after teaser without any sort of name to go along with it:
“We start shooting later this month. A decision must be made this week. Who will be Bachelor 2013???“
Really at the moment, there only seem to be two serious candidates now that Arie Luyendyk Jr. has moved on in order to put his focus back on his racing career: Sean Lowe from Emily Maynard’s season or Ali Fedotowsky’s ex Roberto Martinez. The latter name is the first person to surface as a serious candidate for this new season, but the fan response has been divided over whether or not Roberto should get a chance at love. His pick would, however, be rather interesting: he would be the show’s first Latino leading man, and he has a certain suave sophistication about his that you have not seen from many men on the show before.
Meanwhile, it’s easy to see why Sean has caused producers to take a second look in figuring this out. He is a man who not only has a big heart and wants love, but he has the All-American look and set of values that the show’s fans have a tendency to lap up. We don’t know if he would get anyone knew watching, but if nothing else having Sean in the lead role would guarantee that there would not be an exodus of fans to another show.
Yes, there are some other names that have floated about including Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and some other past contestants from the franchise, but it’s really hard to take any of them seriously at the moment given what is in the tabloids. If the choice really is between Sean and Roberto, who do you want?
