We have just found out the latest celebrity mentor on the upcoming season of “The X Factor,” and it’s somebody who already knows singing competitions very well courtesy of his own ex-wife.
According to a new report from TMZ, Marc Anthony has agreed to be the adviser to the members of Simon Cowell’s team at the judges’ houses stage of the competition currently filming. These segments will air on the show just before the live broadcasts, and are also going to feature the likes of Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber playing a similar role for team Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid, respectively. Britney Spears is the only judge without an already-announced adviser, but we have a feeling that she is going to select somebody that she has worked with in some shape or from during her character. (After all, Britney is known for keeping some of her best collaborators close to her.)
Anthony actually appeared on a few episodes of “American Idol” back during season 10, as he even helped to coach the hopefuls in a segment all about stage presence. He also performed on the season’s finale with then-judge Jennifer Lopez, but then the two parties separated and filed for divorce a few months later. With that in mind, he had no presence at all during season 11, but is nonetheless extremely popular in the Latin music community and is a Grammy Award-winner.
Do you think that Anthony is the right choice for Simon, or are you more just happy that he has someone helping him out at all after Hurricane Irene stopped his plans with Mariah Carey last year?
