After spending much of the past three seasons of “The Vampire Diaries” really being the one character who is Elena, Alaric, and a number of others have tried to protect, get ready to see a brand-new side to Jeremy. After all, the character is about to take some serious responsibility for everything that has happened around him — namely his role in the chain of events that led to Elena (Nina Dobrev) ultimately becoming a vampire.
Speaking as a part of a Q&A with Fanbolt, actor Steven R. McQueen said first and foremost that Jeremy will feel a great deal of guilt over his sister starting to lose some of her mortality, and it will cause him to make some surprising moves that he may not have made before otherwise:
“[He’ll] start to explode a little more this season, and hopefully take charge. Fight back a little!”
As for the future of his character with one Bonnie Bennett, the good news is that McQueen was pretty optimistic that even though there may be some major distractions coming up for his character (including someone who may very well be a new love interest), these two characters may be able to still end up together:
“I think they have unfinished business, and I think there’s still something there.”
If Jeremy does end up dating Bonnie again, let’s just hope that he does not start seeing the ghost of his ex-girlfriend Anna again.
What do you want to see happen to this character following the October 11 premiere, and are you hoping in part for a Jeremy / Bonnie reunion? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below! If you want to check out a brand-new photo for season 4, you can do so by heading over to the link here.
