We already know that a pair of popular “Glee” couples in Finn and Rachel and Kurt and Blaine are going to struggle to keep their relationships intact during the first few episodes of season 4 — so with that in mind, the same question does have to be asked of Naya Rivera’s Santana. Are there going to be some issues of her and Brittany (Heather Morris) on the horizon? If nothing else, we know that there will be some tension brought on by the two parties being in separate cities.
Speaking in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rivera had the following to say on the subject of how her character is going to handle being away from her girlfriend — at least during some of the early episodes:
“At the start of the season, they’re definitely still together — she’s at the high school dealing with all the new people and Santana is at Louisville dealing with her new schedule there … It’s a completely new thing for her and she’s really focusing on cheerleading and trying not to think about the fact that she does miss everyone.”
We know that these two are going to do just about everything they can to make their relationship work, but there is still the tricky fact that there is an episode coming up named “The Break-Up,” and that does give us a bona fide reason to be nervous. Santana’s relationship with Brittany is not the only thing that she is going to be going through, though — rather, she also is going to be dealing with the fact that she may not be enjoying life in Louisville to much when she knows that there are friends enjoying the lights and sounds of New York City.
