At one point on “True Blood” season 5, it felt as though it was inevitable that we were going to see a full-on romance take place between Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) — however, this idea dissipated pretty quickly into the season when the werewolf was glamoured into not having feelings for her shortly after the two parties started to hook up. This was one of the biggest loose ends and in many ways a criticism of the season, as it felt as though we were given a pretty substantial teaser without any sort of follow-up to it.
Thankfully, we are now getting some new information that leads us to believe that this wolf / fairy romance is now over yet. Speaking in an interview with TV Guide, outgoing executive producer Alan Ball suggests that there is still plenty of story left to come for these characters — especially since we live in a world where even something as seemingly binding as being glamoured may not necessarily stay that way forever:
“Even though it looks like Alcide and Sookie may have cooled things off, I’m not so sure that he’s totally dropped the torch that he carries for her.”
So how are Bill and Eric going to feel about this? We have a feeling that both of them are going to be a little bit preoccupied now that Stephen Moyer’s character has been transformed into some sort of vampire god by drinking Lilith’s blood. Alcide does have a major story of his own now that he has earned the title of packmaster, but we’re pretty sure that he can find some time in his schedule for love.
