Is Enrique Iglesias a no-go for “American Idol” this season, despite so many reports suggesting that his casting is almost a sure thing? At this point in time, you are probably going to interpret your own version of truth based solely on what publication that you read.
This new story comes via the New York Post, and in it a source claims that the “I Like It” and “Hero” singer is not interested in the show, since it would end up exposing more of his private life than he is interested in doing. Iglesias is one of those singers whose music largely speaks for itself, but the show does have a million-dollar paycheck that is hard to pass up.
We are still not fully convinced that Enrique is ready to be scratched off of the list of potential judges, but we do have some concerns about why the show would be interested in hiring someone who may not be as excited about the judge position as some other contenders out there in the race. One of them in Nick Jonas seems to be out of the running thanks to him booking an “X Factor” advising gig, but some sources have stated that Adam Lambert is still in the running. In addition, it’s also possible that longtime judge Randy Jackson could be a fallback option of the show does not find anyone else suitable for the position alongside Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj (who is all but confirmed), and a country star (likely Keith Urban) within the next couple of weeks.
Presumably, the audition rounds will start filming at some point in September, but we will have some more news on the subject soon. If you want to check out some more news about reigning “American Idol” champ Phillip Phillips, be sure to head on over to this link.
